Sporting and Major Events Security

SRS Security plays a pivotal role in the majority of sporting and music events in South Australia. All our guards are highly skilled in all facets of security including pat down searches, metal detection, bag checking through to barrier and stage guarding. SRS regularly provides more than 150 guards at the ADL Grand final, Metallica Concert, ACDC Concert, and International Cricket matches.

Security Training

 SRS Training Solutions also provides quality security training in South Australia which is specifically tailored to the crowd control sector of the security industry. This training program was created to help SRS Security and its staff by providing the best level of service to our clients and the training program runs from the Induction stage right through to any re-training we feel our staff may need to become the best they can be.

Our security course provides the training and qualifications needed for various roles in the security industry, such as security officer, crowd controller, or security guard.

The entry-level qualification is the CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations. 

This course covers essential skills like maintaining safety and security, patrolling, guarding property, and crowd control. 

 

CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations

Security Guard & Crowd Controller

The CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations qualification provides you with the skills and accreditation you need to work in the security industry as a non-armed security guard or crowd controller. It will give you the skills to manage the security and safety of others in a variety of circumstances, including guarding and patrolling a privately owned property. You’ll also be qualified to provide security at a licenced venue, including tasks such as screening customers on entry, monitoring the behaviour of patrons, and escorting people off the premises when required.

About the Course

Nationally accredited course

The Cert II introductory course to security is designed to enable staff to be confident and competent in their ability to manage crowds, give the students skills and knowledge specifically to events relevant to the security industry.

The training course is held in the modern facilities within the SRS security group of companies, which is centrally located, Level 1 Ridley Building Wayville Showgrounds Wayville SA, close to all public transport with onsite parking available.

The course is 2 weeks face to face with experience trainers and the latest security equipment and technology.

 

The entry-level qualification is the CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations. 

This course covers essential skills like maintaining safety and security, patrolling, guarding property, and crowd control.

This qualification reflects the role of a security officer, responsible for maintaining safety and security by patrolling, protecting or guarding property while unarmed, and screening entry, monitoring behaviour and removing persons from premises.

Application Requirements

Application requirements

Pre-Requisites and Entry requirements:

There are no formal pre-requisites or entry requirements for enrolling into this course. However, you must be eligible to apply for a security licence which means you must not have been convicted of a disqualifying offence in the past 10 years, where a conviction was recorded.


Minimum Age:
 

The minimum age at commencement of this course is 18 years of age.

Language, Learning & Numeracy:
 

Students will need to have an appropriate level of written and spoken English as well as numeracy skills suitable for employment within the private security industry. At your pre-training review, you will be provided with an LLN Assessment to determine if you have a sufficient level of literacy and numeracy in order to undertake this course.
 

Physical requirements:
 

Students should be physically fit with good vision and hearing, and the ability to respond quickly to cues. You will need to be able to stand on your feet for extended periods of time – sometimes many hours – and be able to perform a range of physical tasks every day.

CPPSEC2101 – Apply effective communication skills to maintain security.

CPPSEC2102 – Apply legal and procedural requirements to work effectively within a security team


CPPSEC2103 – Apply WHS, emergency response and evacuation procedures to maintain security


CPPSEC2104 – Apply risk assessment to select and carry out response to security risk situations


CPPSEC2105 –  Provide quality services to a range of security clients


CPPSEC2106 – Protect self and others using basic defensive techniques


CPPSEC2107 – Patrol premises to monitor property and maintain security

CPPSEC2108 – Screen people, personal effects and items to maintain security


CPPSEC2109 – Monitor and control access and exit of persons and vehicles from premises


CPPSEC2110 – Monitor and control individual and crowd behavior to maintain security


CPPSEC2111 – Apply security procedures to manage intoxicated persons


CPPSEC2112 – Apply security procedures to remove persons from premises


CPPSEC2113 – Escort and protect persons and valuables


HLTAID011 – Provide first aid

Delivery method

Delivered in a classroom environment, this course combines written and oral knowledge assessments with practical skills assessments. Small group sizes allow for personalised guidance and plenty of practical engagement.

Participants are required to attend all training days

(10 contact days – including 1 day first aid).

Mark Mattner

Mark is a senior member of the Training and Assessment team at SRS Training Solutions. He brings a wealth of experience to the fields of Security and Security Management, having worked on and managed some of South Australia’s largest and most high-profile events, including the Clipsal 500, ACDC concerts, the Christmas Pageant, the Royal Adelaide Show, and the Adelaide Rally, just to name a few.

Mark has managed security teams with a strong focus on customer service, attention to detail, and meeting client needs. With over 30 years of industry experience, as a patrol officer, static guard, supervisor, and manager, Mark brings a wealth of knowledge, lifetime experience which results in a highly practical and real-world approach to training.
